Thoughts from her nominator:

"Xia is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.  She is a mother to eight beautiful children and performs at an incredibly high academic level. The sheer amount of dedication, time, and creative energy from this young woman would impress anyone who crosses paths with her. She has a solid iron willpower, while remaining gracious and humbled. Xia is the epitome of success, hardworking, and courageous Hmoob womxn.

In the field of education where diverse teachers are in desperate need, Xia already sees the importance of using her voice to advocate for social justice and inclusive practices for all individuals. She has great leadership potential as a multicultural future educator. In addition to raising children, going to school full-time, and volunteering on a school board, Xia is helping the School of Education start a Multicultural Education Student Organization (MESO) from the ground up. She believes in representation with a strong voice at the decision-making table. Sheis collaborative, values teamwork, and understands how working together can improve organizations. Xia’s voice is a breath of fresh air."
